In summer 2015, after my first junior semester in college, the phrase "come, turn your head this way" entered my mind, and stayed. I began to take inspiration from it and created small test pieces, discovering the materials and steps I wanted to use for the project. After a failed one-on-one with a professor, I took a replacement class that summer, watercolor 2. I was desperate to begin on the project, and watercolor was exactly the medium I loved best. The professor in that class, instead of watching me fail to find words to describe the project, told me "Clearly you have some sort of idea in mind, so just do it. Just go for it" and thus this piece was made. 

 

The yellow, green, blue pallet is symbolic in my works. Yellow represents my past, my natural tendency was to follow, to claim other's opinions instead of my own. Green, or teal as I love to claim, symbolizes my present. A present where I'm changing, and my identity is still transitioning. Blue is my future, what I strive for, who I want to be.
